Dec 22 2021

Unfortunately, due to the increasingly difficult situation with Covid, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Duck Race on January 1st 2022.

This will be another big loss of income for the charity but it is important that everyone stays safe.

If you would like to continue to support Age UK Derby and Derbyshire, we will still be selling tickets online and all tickets purchased will be entered into a prize draw.

For those who have already bought tickets online, they will be automatically included in the prize draw.

The draw will take place at 2pm on the 1st January. Tickets will remain on sale until 10pm on 31st December.

"Ducks ARE Swimming in 2022"

We couldn’t be happier to announce that our much-loved Duck Race will be back on 1 January.

All our ducks are fully vaccinated and raring to go!

After the months and months of staying indoors and seeing no one we are free to mix once again and what better way than to say hello to family and friends at the Annual Duck Race.

At this stage none of us know what the COVID situation will be but we will of course be following whatever government guidelines are in place on 1st January.

Enjoy a warming cup of mulled wine with a mince pie, tea or coffee, a delicious hot donut or a tasty hamburger or hot dog. Have a go on our tombola with some lovely prizes to be won, for the little ones we have a Teddy tombola with a cuddly toy prize every time.

This time in addition to the usual stalls we will have a face painter for the little ones.

What a fantastic start to the new year, socialising and supporting a local charity.

This popular event is now in its 30th year - would have been 31 had it not been for COVID!

It takes place at Manor Park Toton, courtesy of Broxtowe Borough Council and sponsored by Michael Key MOT, Servicing & Repair, Long Eaton.

We will shortly be contacting all local businesses and requesting their participation in our ‘Corporate’ race – for just £25 or two for £40, they can sponsor a duck or ducks and have a chance to win a prize to share around their employees. In addition, gain lots of publicity both before and on the day. This race which takes place immediately before the main race has become a popular and integral part of the day!

We usually gather around 1pm and we aim to launch the ducks by 2pm. There is lots to keep everyone busy during the lead up to the race and we try to make sure that everyone who wants to purchase a ticket at just £1.50 can do so.

Tickets for the race will be on sale from November. So reserve yours early to avoid disappointment. You can even buy them online!
